"My objective is to invest in goats since they are the only assets that I can have. I am not employed, and these goats can help me overcome my financial troubles. I have nine children currently enrolled in high school and primary school, and they all depend on me for their fees. I do not have any other support besides the monthly transfers. I am currently keeping twelve goats, and I am planning to buy more goats in the coming year and beyond. They will serve as security for the future of my children's education."

"This time around I decided that I would use the money to build a proper house for me and my family because the one we lived in was small for us. Therefore I proceeded to spend over KES 15,000 on purchasing thirty pieces of timber and ten pieces of iron sheets. I then proceeded to spend over KES 20,000 on paying tuition for my daughter who was in high school since she had a debt. As for the rest of the funds I decided to gradually spend on nutrition."

"We are slowly feeling the effect of climate change in our area. Bumper harvest is now the story of the past. Most of us rely on rain to cultivate our farms. Shortages of rain have sent us back to the drawing board to think of another way to earn a living. Milk is now retailing at KES 70 a liter which is very lucrative. I am planning to take a loan of KES 100000 and venture into the business of dairy farming to enable me to earn living for my family."

"For a very long time, I have desired to start livestock rearing as a dependable source of livelihood for the family. Because of the poverty condition in our family, my effort to make this dream a reality bore no fruit. After receiving the recent transfers, I bought five goats to start livestock farming an investment that will provide financial assistance whenever I face any challenge. In addition, I used $150 to acquire proper modern bedding since I was using an old traditional bed that was not uncomfortable. I always felt body pain every morning after waking up. I spent part of the remaining amount to build a decent two-roomed, mud-walled house for the family. Earlier, I lived in a small grass-thatched structure that was about to collapse. Nowadays, I am glad to reside in a decent house than before. Lastly, I used the remaining amount to purchase sufficient food for the family."
