"The main challenge I am facing is loneliness, living alone at home is a challenge as I told you my wife left me 6 years ago and she went with my last born. we have 5 children and 4 others are adults now they went looking for jobs in other places like Kigali and Kayonza. The other challenge is that I don't have any livestock at home and because of that it's not easy for me to get manure that I can use in my agricultural activities, hence the low production which results in having insufficient food at home. In our region it's not possible to grow crops without using manure and expect production. It's impossible, whether being sweet potatoes, beans or other crops can not grow without manure."

"My house's roof has been in bad shape for quite some time, and I have not been able to renovate it. I did not have enough money to facilitate this. My plan to rebuild the roof was revived when I received the transfers. As of now, I have managed to buy 4 pieces of iron sheets, and my objective is to buy at least 15 pieces. My goal now is to buy two iron sheets every month through the transfer in order to renovate the house."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by enrolling each household in my entire region. The process was free and fair since all the beneficiaries were all treated equally. Also, the staffs were so generous and approachable, we could ask questions without fear or hesitance. I, therefore, do not see anything that needs to be reviewed."

"A further contribution enabled the purchase of a milk cow. It cost me $150 to buy it. When it has given birth, I am looking forward to selling milk to raise my income and giving my children milk to drink to improve their health. For my form two, college student, and university student, I paid $200 in school fees. As opposed to before, when I would go to school and plead with the teachers to give them a little more time to study or even bring vegetables to their school to make up for their unpaid fees, I now trust they will study without hindrance. The remainder was used to purchase clothing and food for my children. I cultivate vegetables. After I sell these vegetables, I make money. In addition to farming, I am a pastor's wife, and since we both trust in God, everything has been wonderful. Also, I am a mother of six children, four girls, and two boys. My children went to bed hungry before I started getting these transfers since the drought made it difficult for my farm to thrive but now they are full and healthy through these transfers. Thank you so much for your generosity, GiveDirectly."

"I invested $400 of my second transfer in opening a little restaurant. We used to rely on my husband's occasional work, but the money he made from it could not support all nine of us, notably the school costs for our six kids. Since then, my income has increased, and we no longer struggle to cover our costs, which makes me happy. We can afford a healthy diet, and we also make timely payments for our kids' tuition. In addition, I spent $140 on four goats, and they have all given birth, so I now have four more goats. I feel more financially secure because I can sell some of them in the future if I need money quickly."

"The best concept was to give us cash since it opened our eyes to the different necessities we lacked as we invested in them. Most people who were struggling financially have made improvements to their life in a variety of ways. Some have built nicer homes, some have purchased water tanks to help with the problem of water shortage, and still, others who had nowhere to live have purchased property. This all contributed to a stronger and healthier community. But, in order to prevent the drunken recipients from wasting the money they get, the organization must keep a tight eye on them. If it's possible, they should ask the local chief to keep an eye on these individuals to ensure that everyone is spending the money wisely."

"I was inspired to buy a dairy cow because the dairy products company opened a branch right next to our house, ensuring that there would be markets for our milk. As a result, I am thrilled since the dairy cow I purchased with the most recent transfer for $300 is about to give birth. As I am the only source of income for our family, the money I will get from milk sales will help our finances. Because my physically challenged child requires constant supervision, I am unable to engage in a variety of economic activities. Thus, it will be a relief to receive milk revenue. We utilized $50 of the $230 I had left to buy food that would last us for a while, and the rest was used to launch a maize sales business. I appreciate the help because it helped me out financially."

"Our area used to be known for its poverty, which could be seen in the housing conditions. This is no longer the case, however, since the majority of individuals have upgraded their existing homes. Giving us money with no conditions and not anticipating a refund made all of these things possible. The most notable aspect of the organization was its ability to financially empower people. They are doing an outstanding job, therefore neither I nor anybody else I know has ever complained about them."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by offering us unconditional cash transfers. I was granted the freedom of choosing what to purchase according to my wants. I must mention that through that, I have been able to own assets like houses which I never thought I would build anytime soon. Therefore I do not see anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."
