"At the time I was receiving the transfers my husband was quiet unwell I needed to be operated on. therefore I ended up spending more than half of the transfers so that he could get hospitalized and receive treatment. I then proceeded to spend KES 20,000 to finish payment on the piece of land that I had bought using the first transfers. The little funds that I ended up remaining with I used the nutrition."

"I spent the money I received from GiveDirectly on purchasing a heifer. Sometimes back i used to purchase milk and it was so costly for me. When it reproduces I will be able to get enough milk and cut the daily cost of buying milk. I will save the money to spent on meeting other household items. Secondly I purchased sofa set seats, I did not have decent seats in my house, currently whenever I have visitors I am so happy because they get a decent seats to sit on. The remaining amount of money I spent on food and household items that we were lacking at that particular time."

"I spent $150 of the recent to purchase 5 goats a future investment for the family. Previously, I was depending on crop farming which has been greatly affected by climate change. I had desired to venture into goat rearing as an alternative since they are profitable and easy to raise compared to cattle that are greatly affected by drought. Furthermore, I used $204 to purchase proper modern bedding for a family of 12 children. This is because we had been sleeping on the floor using mats which were uncomfortable. Lastly, I spent the remaining amount constructing a decent house for my kids. They were spending their night in a small-grass thatched house that was leaking."

"Giving cash tranfer which was unconditional is what the organisation did well. Visiting and assessing our eligibility by asking the right questions and how we intend to transform our lives with the cash was a well-planned process. I feel everything went well and there is nothing they should charge or improve on their processes."

"This year, my primary focus is repaying for the motorcycle I purchased on credit. Making full repayment will be a relief to my family and me. However, since my current house is small and leaky, I want to build a new, spacious one. Therefore, once I have paid off the motorcycle, my primary focus will be saving for building materials. A new house will equally serve my family well, and none of the children will have to face the challenges of walking at night to go and spend in the neighborhood."

"Since I got married, I have lived in a makuti-roofed house. However, regular roof maintenance is always costly. As a result, when the new year began, I set a goal of constructing a new 30 iron-sheet roofed house. I know that type of a house will comfortably accommodate my family, and there will be no need for regular roof repairs. My children's bedroom will be an additional room in the new house. I would not like to see them walking around at night to sleep in the neighborhood. In addition, I would consider purchasing additional goats to supplement my income in the future."

"I was worried about how I would be paying my children's school fees. Whatever income I have been making from charcoal sales has always been insufficient to meet our nutritional needs. I struggle to raise school fees for my seven children. They are a number, and we do not have a consistent source of income. With the current security of my monthly income, I have set a goal of diverting most of my monthly transfers to pay for my children's school fees. I believe this will help them advance in their studies. I am glad they are doing well in school currently."

"I am happy that GiveDirectly's cash program has allowed us to own assets and even invest. Apart from eradicating poverty in society, many people were able to purchase assets with their transfer. I am happy that my dream of having a cow and producing milk has come to pass. With the high cost of living combined with a high poverty rate in our area. This transfer came at the right time and helped us a lot but only scratched the surface of poverty in our homes. I wish that GiveDirectly will remember us with another project near future."
