John
received a $436 second payment.
"Shortages of sustainable livestock feeds were my undoing for dairy farming. To arrest this challenge I decided to plant Napier grass and grass for my cows. It was until when I received the second transfer that I choose to buy a chuff cuter worth KES 48000 to enable me to manufacture silage for my livestock. This machine made my work seamless unlike before when I was doing it manually. I am grateful that it takes me a short time to make enough feeds for my cows. Now I can produce up to five liters of milk daily which is a milestone for me and my family. Being a champion of education, I also considered buying my children story books and school uniforms. This will enhance the quality of education for my children."

Mary
received a $421 second payment.
"I am filled with happiness every moment I walk around my farm. I now own livestock which was my dream. When I received my second transfer I prioritized investing KES 40000 to purchase sheep and a cow. I am now confident that I will no longer struggle to put food on the table for my family of three. I will be easily selling milk and other livestock products to earn a living."

received a $421 second payment.
"I am so hopeful that going forward I need to revamp my business to help me in bettering our lives more now and in future. The business has assisted me so well, I am good at doing cereal business, especially maize, it has high demand and there is the availability of market as people consume it as a stable food, It is a good business only that the issue of insufficient capital is what weighs me down. Every other time my business picks up an issue emerges that takes away the capital, especially the school fees since I want my children to have a better future."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by first assembling and giving us informative teachings regarding cash. After receiving the cash, we were all aware of what was required of us, especially on how best we could secure our cash. Through this, there were fewer cases were reported. Therefore I did not see or hear anything that GiveDirectly failed us."

Lilian
received a $421 second payment.
"I spent $90 of my second transfer on paying fees for my two children in secondary schools; in form two and three respectively. As a parent, it has been stressing me also whenever they are at home as a result of the arrears. I, therefore, feel relieved and thankful because they will no longer be sent home for the entire semester. To add to that, I had to buy a mattress and bedsheets. Which were to replace the old ones which were torn. I used to experience sleepless nights which was a result of the nature of my bedding. I currently can't complain since I have been sleeping in a better place which has led to the relaxation of my mind. Also, I bought three mats which I will purposely be used by visitors as sits. I no longer have to borrow those of my neighbours since it was quite embarrassing. With the remaining amount, I bought food for my twelve family members. I am glad that we can afford to take at least two meals a day courtesy of GiveDirecetly. This has made my children to be healthy and active in school."

Santa
received a $421 second payment.
"I would wish to start a business selling fresh vegetables in the neighbouring town centre. For now, I only depend on meagre jobs to fend for my children which has never been enough considering I am a widow. Also, I believe that once I will be able to operate this kind of business, my three school-going children will study will less disturbance."

Geofrey
received a $421 second payment.
"The criteria used by the organization in selecting the families who would benefit from the project were incredible; it was open, free, and fair. Furthermore, the transfer was unconditional, allowing us to choose how we would use our transfers. My neighborhood has been transformed and strengthened. I have not seen anything done poorly during my interactions with the GiveDirectly staff."
