"My goal is to start a business of vending vegetables and fruits to earn an income. I have been saving part of the money in our local merry-go-round since last year, for the purpose of starting a small business that will generate some income. I have five children who all look to me for their basic needs like food and school fees. I used to sell charcoal for a living but currently, drought has hit us badly, and I do not have any income to rely on. Starting this business will ease the burden of buying food and paying fees through the profit that I will be earning."

"I have been suffering from ulcers for almost five years now. I depended on my two sons who were paying for my medical expenses but it was not easy for them since they have their own families to look after. Ever since I started receiving the monthly transfer, I have been able to cater for the medical expenses on my own, buying the medicines every month and going for check-ups. Being able to cater for my medical expenses was a big relief to my sons, and I am planning to spend any surplus to buy more goats to keep on my homestead, I currently own 7 goats."

"I am currently operating a food kiosk in my village which has been my only source of livelihood. I have been able to restock it every month I receive a transfer which has greatly improved my profits. I am able to effectively take care of my family's basic needs like buying food daily through this business. My dream is to expand this business to a bigger one that can serve a bigger clientele. I will be able to save more as profits increase. I am also planning to buy goats and chickens to add to my livestock. I currently have three goats in my compound, and I am hoping to add more through the money. My expectation is to have as assets that I can readily rely on in case of a financial need such as boosting my food kiosk business."

"Give Directly are the biblical helpers. May you also help others the way you helped my village mates and I. When you are done helping others, please come back and help us again. The best thing you did is you ensured that everyone in the village received the money at almost the same time. This way people would not complain of unfairness. We have done a lot of development projects, people have built new houses and the village is all glitters with the new iron sheets, thanks to Give Directly. Everything you done is perfect, there is nothing at all to improve on."

"I am planning to start up a small business supplying milk to boarding schools. I usually do it although to homesteads and the terms of payment are on delivery. In the near future, I will be expanding and mostly the deliveries will be done by the motorcyclist as they will be in large quantities. The profits from the business will be taking care of my kids' school fees."

"I'm a small scale farmer who concentrate mainly on cattle rearing. My wife is a casual labourer and her unstable income cannot sustain our family. Mostly, we depend on well wishers to get basic needs like food. Our good neighbours and the office of the DC are among the well wishers. Before Give Directly came to our village, I neither had a decent house nor a comfortable place to sleep. It was unbearable during rainy seasons because I could be rained on all night, since the place I used to sleep had a leaking roof. These are among my reasons as to why I decided to construct a two-roomed house. So I bought 20 iron sheets (not sure about the price), and construction wood worth $180. I can't remember the exact figures since I did not note them down. I have not yet started the building process, so I have stored the materials with a plan of starting the construction soon. I also spent $175 on 5 goats, I settled on goats because I needed something to remember Give Directly in years to come. These goats will even help me in future since I will be able to sell them and buy food."

"I used $150 to buy paints and to paint my house. Another $100 was used to clear a medical bill for one of our family members who needed some medical attention. We then used the remaining amount of almost $300 to buy food , clothes among other needs for my family. My house was getting old and needed some maintenance to bring out a good look but we could not have enough money to do that before. We normally rely on farming to make ends meet which has been dealt a blow by the prevailing weather conditions."

"The biggest difference in my life is the fact that I now have a business that gives me income. I am so grateful that I finally have my own business, a business that will help me raise money to pay school fees and meet other needs of my family. I plan to use the next transfer to buy a cow for keeping and stock my shop in order to increase my profit margin. All these shall make my life and that of my children better."
