Sidi
received a $443 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my life since we received GiveDirectly transfers is in the investments that we made with it. Looking at the house that we have built to completion and other investments such as the goats that we bought makes me so happy. The new house has provided us with the much needed comfort in our homes while the goats that I bought shall help is meet other expenses such as payment of school fees in future. These are assets that have made us financially independent as well."

"What i like about Give Directly is that they don't push you to do anything for them besides, they don't accept anything from us.
What i dislike about Give Directly is that they came in this town registered everyone and gave out phones but they didn't gave some people money."

Kwasi
received a $240 second payment.
"The house my family and i built hasn't been plaster because we couldn't afford to pay for cement, sand and even fees to pay the workers.
But as i received the second transfer from Give Directly, i immediately went to purchase materials for that purpose.
I bought sand for 53.00USD, 134.00USD for 8 bags of cement and use the balance on my plantains and cocoa farm, paid people to clean the grass and planted new ones."

Nzingo
received a second payment.
"Before I started receiving the transfers, life was so hard we could not get healthy meals or even pay school fees, my husband had lost his stable job and he is a form 4 leaver. This means that he would go for a longer period of time before getting another job but now hustle in a construction site. The second transfer came during the Christmas season and it helped me in buying clothes and food for my family. It was a celebration season and my children were never left behind, they really enjoyed the healthy meals and nice clothing which they had lacked before. In addition, I also bought four goats at $50 each. Even though I am still looking for a job, I am currently operating a tailoring shop that I boosted with $50 from the second transfer. I am glad that the dressmaking skills I acquired in school have been helpful."

Emmy
received a $428 second payment.
"I am a mother of five, two daughters, and three sons. My husband works as a casual worker on a construction site while I am a maize, cabbage, and beans farmer. Before the transfers came life was very difficult, with no money, school fees, and enough food for my family. The most recent transfer I received from GiveDirectly brought a big change in my family’s life. I bought a cow for $25 so that it could calve and I can milk and sell it to my neighbors hence increasing my daily income. I managed to also pay school fees arrears of $20 for my two children who are in form one and four respectively. The remaining $10 helped me in buying healthy food, good clothes, and other household items which my family had lacked before, Thank you so much GiveDirectly, You have put a smile on my face."

Joyce
received a $443 initial payment.
"I was overjoyed to receive my first transfer just a few days after enrolling. Many people in the village were surprised because it arrived earlier than expected. We had to wait another week in our household to plan, and when we were ready, we picked it up from a nearby shopping center. Our top priority was to build a new house for my older son, who had just finished his eighth grade exams. He requires a private space where he can study at home and sleep at night now that he is an adult. I spent $200 on 1w3 iron sheets, building poles, nails, and labor charges. My son is now relieved that he has a room in which to sleep as well as a place to store all of his belongings while at home. We also built a dam, and despite having a large budget for it, we were lucky to use only $80 because the water filled it up before it was finished. It has since saved me money on buying water for my livestock and has also helped to irrigate my vegetable garden. In addition, my family of seven spent $10 on new pairs of clothes and food on Christmas Eve. I used some of the remaining funds to replace missing utensils and saved the rest to prepare my children for the start of school."
