Joyce
received a $435 second payment.
"I have four children who are in primary school and one in secondary school. They have fees problems such that most of the time they are out of school. Raising school fees for them has been challenging because I only depend on my small business which is not doing well. When I received my second transfer, I cleared the arrears which was totalling to Ksh 10,000. I also bought one cow worth Ksh 30,000 to add to my flock. My food stock was almost over, so I replenished some more for Ksh 8,000. I also bought some new furniture(chairs and table) for Ksh 5,000."

Bett
received a $435 second payment.
"Life has a fair share of challenges and the main one that I face is financial instability. The absence of job is to blame for this. With my second transfer I went to the market and bought 1 cow worth Ksh 25,000. Intend to start a dairy farm since this farming enterprise will enable me to earn the money I need to support my family. My wife is currently in college and she had fees arrears of Ksh 20,000 which I was able to complete. With the left over money, I bought food stuff and other necessities we needed in the house."

Gladys
received a $450 second payment.
"With the second transfer that I received, I was able to add to my flock by buying 1 cow which was worth Ksh 30,000. I have rented a shamba where I farm potatoes for home use and I sell the rest. Since I have usually admired having my own business, I was able to spare Ksh 20,000 which I used to start a business of selling second hand clothes in the nearby market. With this I am now able to cater for my family's basic needs with much ease. My husband has a small business of selling eggs, but this doesn't bring enough money to support us. I am now happy that I can be able to support him in providing for our family. We are blessed with two kids and I would love to be able to see them through their education without difficulties."

Mercy
received a second payment.
"I am a small scale farmer, I get to sell the produce from my farm and earn a few coins to earn a living which I use to support my family of five kids. With my second transfer which I received from GiveDirectly I used Ksh 30,000 to build myself a house, since the one I had was not in good condition. I am happy that my family and I have a place to call home now. I have always wanted to do livestock farming, so I bought a cow worth Ksh 20,000. With the remaining Ksh 3,000 I bought food for my family and we get to have a meal every day on our table."
