Salma
received a $28 sixth payment.
"My objectives are to be self-sufficient and to contribute to our home. Since I don't have a job, my husband, who drives a motorcycle as a taxi, provides the majority of our family's income. In the future, I will save aside a portion of the monthly transfers for a few months, and then I will utilize the money to launch a grocery store. Groceries are more profitable because practically everyone uses them every day. I'll start buying goats to raise later, once the business is established."

Bahati
received a sixth payment.
"At the moment, my concentration is more on my farm, which is why I intend on buying a couple of goats and some poultry as well. This is because they're quite affordable, and they always come in handy during a time of financial struggle. Apart from that, I am also thinking of starting my own business where I sell groceries, preferably from the comfort of my home, because at the moment I make money from burning charcoal, and it's hardly ever enough. I also happen to be a single parent, so I also plan on using that money to cater for the basic needs of my child and myself, which include clothes and nutrition."

Christina
enrolled.
"Since 2020, I haven't been able to plant any crops because of the biting draught. This has led to challenge of hunger in my household which is made worse since I have to take care of my grandchildren. It is challenging since we have to go without food. I'm forced to burn charcoal which gets me about $20 dollars monthly which is not enough for food."

Femina
received a $28 tenth payment.
"My main objective for this year is to launch my own business and achieve financial independence. Now that I have the skills to help run the business, I'm looking at purchasing a sewing machine and clothing supplies. Working on the farm is my current source of income, but it only pays very little due to the severe effects of the drought, which have prevented the farm's crops from growing. I will start earning money once the business is up and running and I am able to draw clients, which will help me support my family."

Hamisi
received a $450 second payment.
"GiveDirectly have continued to be at the fire front in transforming the lives of recipients as well as their loved ones, through their transfers. The only advise I can give, since I have no criticism what so ever, is to ask them to increase the number of recipients and the number of times they get funds, to allow people to continue to achieve their dreams."

Dzende
received a sixth payment.
"Our area has been adversely affected by extreme drought in the past year. All we could think of was securing foodstuffs. For our sustainability, I plan on starting a poultry project as I rear goats. To accomplish this dream, I plan on saving at least $10 monthly from my cash support. This would help meet my children's school fees and I'll also have something to show for once my project is done."

Joel
received a $450 second payment.
"Needless to say it, they made my dreams come true! They allowed me to complete my home and improve the quality of life of my family. All I would ask is that they continue to bless others, and if possible, to think of offering a third transfer, to help complete and Further some of the works they allowed recipients to start."

Dama
received a $435 second payment.
"Earlier on when I received my first transfer, I started building myself a house but I did not manage to have it completed since I had some more pressing needs at the moment and had to postpone the project till when I received the second transfer. After getting the second transfer, I used Ksh 27,000 to finish it up. I also bought a piece of land (1 acre) for Ksh 20,000 which I could use for farming. Among other objectives that I had was to buy a goat for Ksh 3,000. I am grateful that this transfers transformed my life in a great way."
