""Since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly my life is filled with so much excitement and relieved lately. Before I got on this program life had not been easy for my children and I, since we lost their father two years ago. Even fnding good sleeping place had been one of the challenging issues for us to the extent that I have to separate them sending some of them to other neighbours or relatives house just to pass a night. This had been the struggled of our lives for the passed two years. This situations had been so embarrassing for us. So being a part of this great program is a dream come through for me. And with this opportunity I am hopeful that my family story will changed for the better.""

"Give Directly given has done well through the provision of unconditional cash transfers. I am pleased to be enrolled in the program and grateful that you visited the village and imparted more about the organizations and followed up even after giving out the funds to understand how we spent the money. I would request that as you enroll more, it is very important to advise recipients on the expenditure of their funds and help them have a plan before getting the funds."

"My accomplishment would be to educate my seven children. My eldest son recently joined college and his siblings are almost completing their high school education, which is my biggest challenge and worry. My husband’s source of income is unreliable and even with the short-term job contracts, he cannot fully meet all the financial obligations of the family. I only hope that he will get a job soon and continue educating my children."

"We are currently struggling with the payment of school fees, and it has drained us financially as a family. I have four children, all of them in school. The four of them have an outstanding fee of $300. My husband is a minibus driver and his job is seasonal and unstable because it depends on the rate at which people are traveling long-distance trips. My first transfer was used to clear the school arrears for my four children, and the remaining was used to buy food that would last us for the next two months. My second transfer of $200 was used to pay the school fees and the other $200 was what I used to open a charcoal-selling business in Kilifi town. I was glad that the transfers came in time and I used the rest of the money to buy food as my household was running out. The food would cover the next two months, as my business was struggling to pick up."

"The transfers have brought a big difference in my life. I have lived with frustrations on how to support my family. My family used to live in a thatched house that was almost collapsing, but the funds have improved my living standard and I could build a one-roomed house. Most of my neighbors have improved to build modern homes and bought livestock, which is quite an improvement. I would request that GiveDirectly is doing a good job and my wish would be that they would consider giving us more funds."

"I work as a night guard in a government school near the village getting a salary of $1.5 a day. This money is not enough to take care of myself and my child. I separated from my wife two years ago but we are in touch because of my child. Every term I pay my child's school fees. Receiving this transfer has enabled me to buy a secondhand motorbike for $600. I plan to go for driving lessons, quit my job, and start a transportation business."

"Because of both the first and second transfers, I was unable to account for the building of a new house. I am currently hoping to start gathering the necessary supplies, which I will subsequently utilize to build a separate house for my four children. They had been sleeping in the kitchen for the entirety of the time, which is quite small and rarely kept clean, especially during the rainy season. They will be more comfortable and have more room to read each evening after school if a new one is built for them."
