Morris
received a $435 second payment.
"The new goal that I have is to enroll in a machinery and plant operation college after getting my form 4 certificates. My dream is to specialize in learning how to operate excavators. This is because my brother is working in the same job making it easy to link me up with the company where he currently works."

"Sending unconditional cash transfers to us is a plus for the organization. Also sending the money directly to us is another win for us because we received all the money intended to help us."

Alex
received a $231 initial payment.
""I am farmer. This is what I do to support my family. I stay on the farm and come to Queboe Town once after every two weeks because, as a former Town Chief, I need to know what's happening in town. My children are in school in Ganta, one.of them in the Catholic School. They have been calling for school fees and I almost told them that some of them will hace to drop from school because there is no money. I told my wife to pound some rice, if it makes 25kg we can sell it and send the money for the one person who will remain in school. My wife and I were discussing this when one of my community member entered my farm and told me that GiveDirectly is sending money now.
I hurriedly came to town, switch my phome on and to my amazement I have received $35,625LD from GiveDirectly. I was so happy and up to now, I am still very happy. My children called and I told them that GiveDirectly has transferred us money, all I could hear was shouts of joy. My wife is happy, my children are happy, the family is happy. Thanks God for GiveDirectly. That night I slept fine because my children were remaining in school because their school was first thing on my mind""

Alphonso
received a $244 second payment.
""I have not used the second transfer received from GiveDirectly. I have not used it because, I want to build a house for myself. I live in this house but it is not my own, it belongs to the family; and as a young man, I can't continue living in my parents' house. I had always wanted to do this and with the assistance from GiveDirectly I must begin with this long held dream'."

Shem
received a second payment.
"I am an old man and all my children are grown and independent. At my age, I cannot be employed and most of the time, we depend on our children for financial support. When I got enrolled in GiveDirectly, my wife moved to Kilifi town, where I bought a piece of land and built three thatched houses. I remained at our farmhouse in Ganze as it was easier for my children to have ease in doing business and looking for jobs while they have a place to live in. When I got my transfer, I split the money into two and my wife used her share for food and to pay for my last-born daughter who is a beauty training college. I used my share to renovate and transform our home from a thatched house to a three-roomed stone house with a verandah. I split my second transfer in half and I could complete the structure but unfortunately not able to complete the ceiling and the floor. My wife took her share as well and started renovating one of our houses in town. I am grateful because at my age, never did I know how to completely renovate our home."

Charo
received a $28 sixth payment.
"In the coming years, I wish to rear goats as well as purchase a cow. This is because of the ease of managing and rearing them in semi-arid areas. To achieve this, I plan on getting a goat every month at $25 from the support of cash I receive every month. This is the only assurance I will have of meeting my children's school fees."
