Karisa
received a $27 tenth payment.
"Currently, my focus is bringing my health back to shape so that I can be able to return to work. However, I lack the necessary resources and finances to cover my treatment expenses. Every penny I get is majorly consumed by the household’s basic needs like food and school fees; nothing is left. Although these financial obligations weigh heavily on me, I trust to have the capacity to save some money from my upcoming transfers to fund my treatment procedures. "

Kadzo
received a $27 sixth payment.
"Receiving the monthly transfers has brought a huge relief to my household since last year. The prevailing drought that has struck us for almost two years has rendered our lives miserable, coupled with tough economic hardship. Were it not for the transfers, I would not have been able to provide food in my household as well as pay fees for my grandson. The transfers are currently the only hope which has ensured that we do not lack food despite the hardships I am facing. My goal is to ensure that food is available in my household and that my grandchild's education is not interrupted for failing to pay fees."

Sidi
received a $418 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer on buying twenty pieces of iron sheets, poles, nails, and timber. This was for the construction of my house since the previous one was in a pathetic state and almost collapsed. To add to that, during rainy days, it would leak terribly. We have therefore been forced to move to our friend's houses whenever it happens to rain. It has never been easy at all. Those cold nights and harsh weather and cold nights were unbearable. My spouse and I are very old we only depend on our children for our daily bread therefore upgrading the house to a better one would take years. I am now happy and grateful to GiveDirectly for finally changing my story. I am no longer worried about the harsh climatic change or all sorts of hazards. Also with the remaining amount, I had to buy foodstuffs and other houshouseld items that I was lacking."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did an excellent job of providing direct cash assistance to our phones. We were able to comprehend the concept better thanks to the several meetings they held in our neighborhood. This enables us to inquire about the assistance and receive responses. Last but not least, the enrollment procedure was free and impartial. They did not do anything wrong, in my opinion."

Kache
received a $418 second payment.
"From the first transfer, I started constructing a two-room mud-walled house because the one I had was very small and congested. Since I used the transfer for other things as well, I was unable to complete the construction. When I got the second one, I prioritized completing the house. As of now, the house is complete and I am happy for living in a decent, spacious, iron sheet-roofed house. In addition to this, I bought a plowing bull. The bull will be for both business and personal plowing. Since most of the people in our area are subsistence farmers, I will be able to make good business during rainy seasons. I also bought some food for my family because it was a drought season and getting some food was a struggle."

received a $418 second payment.
"If I obtain some money, I want to add more livestock. I want to invest in livestock, which is why I am doing this. After all, they are secure to maintain and can be exchanged for money if necessary. For this reason, I made some purchases in both transfers and want to make more. They reproduce, so I know they will grow every year."

Riziki
received a $27 sixth payment.
"I am a mother of eight children, and I desire to see them succeed in their educational pursuits. Though I have had a low-income level from the beginning of the year, I developed a goal of diverting a large proportion of my transfer to paying school fees. I know that if I fail to grant them that opportunity, they will not be responsible people in the future. I wish to see them grow to attain self independence. In addition to that, I also long to be investing part of the transfer to buy goats that I can raise for other family development plans."

Charo
received a $27 fourteenth payment.
"In my family, I am the sole breadwinner. My wife is a housewife and does not have any source of income. She fully leans on my support. As I continue to receive my transfers, I have developed a goal of starting a business for her. I am optimistic that it will create an opportunity for her to raise some income. As a result, the family will have an alternative source of income to help meet the competing family needs. She is likely to succeed in this because she had done business dealing with the sale of vegetables."

enrolled.
"Imagine at the age of 64 years now, charcoal burning remains the main source of income for my household. This work has drained my energy and I am no longer active in it because it is so intensive. Its income is very low, usually $20 per 2 weeks. This earning usually go to food and this explains why I have for a long time lived in a small house that is not worthy of me. I, therefore, consider a financial crisis to be my biggest challenge."

"The land that i constructed my house in is very small. It only stops a few meters and my house covers it all and thus cannot do any other activity like small scale farming on it. So, lack of enough land to grow more crops is the greatest challenge that I am facing. Usually, we get our food from my other small plot of land uphill. Last year in November, the landslides destroyed my crops there, and I got so sad and worried. So my family is big as we are 9 members in the family and there is no enough food to eat. This has been my other challenge."
