"My goal is to set up my own business. After I shall have completed my tailoring course, I would not like to be employed by someone else and instead, I would want to set up my own tailoring sh and be my own boss. With the transfers that I would be receiving, I would ensure that I buy livestock every month and sell them in the future to get the start-up capital of $30."

Pili
received a $25 tenth payment.
"As I said I am a local food seller and I make and sell food for a living. I do not have a permanent location to which I work and this means I do most of my work along the roadside most times. My hope is to stabilize my business and expand it. I want to add Groceries to my current portfolio of things I sell. I want to increase my income as this in turn means I will be able to get enough cash to educate my child and provide food for my home."

Linet
received a $25 tenth payment.
"My goal is to become an animal farmer and I also wish to get a new house. My house has over time fallen apart and this has been quite a stressing thing. One of the wall came apart and this has exposed the house to leaking and entry of insects such as mosquitoes, especially during the rain, and wind in the night. I would like for my family to have better living quarters. My husband and I are both receiving Givedirectly transfers we plan to pull the money together once we harvest so we can save towards building a new house. I am also aiming to buy a number of additional animals to increase my flock."

Hamisi
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"I planted some maize and green grams in April which I am looking forward to harvesting. My hope is that this maize and green grams will be sufficient after harvesting to feed the family so that I can redirect the money for food in purchasing livestock. I would like to keep livestock due to their being very easy to multiply and once they are in sufficient numbers I can sell and make a profit. Some of this money will be used to build my house. My roof has been falling apart as it is an old corrugated iron roof which needs repair as its almost falling off. I am saving from my earnings to ensure I have a sufficient amount to build the house."

Sidi
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I aim to educate my children. I have five children in school and the budget for their school fees is above mine and my husband's earnings. My husband sells water in Mombasa and the money he earns takes care mainly of food due to the drought that was persistent. This being a basic need we found ourselves neglecting to pay school fees due to a lack of the finances and this would keep our children out of school. Now I see that through this transfers my children will get education and be able to have a fighting chance."

William
received a $25 tenth payment.
"As I said earlier I have seven children and they all live at home. My children sleep in their uncle's house, my younger brother, and their grandmother's house because my house is not sufficient for them to live in. I want to use the savings that I make monthly to begin a project of building a house for my children. I want to build a two room house that will be sufficient for all the 7 of them even as they go through school and try to get a footing for themselves. I am hoping by the end of the year I will have began building so that I can use the coming years transfer to finish the structure."

"I am now a father of one. I had no family when Givedirectly came in but now things have changed. I need to put a lot of focus on nurturing my young family. I am also not working at the moment as my employer asked me to take time off after my wife gave birth. I want to build a sustainable business through animal rearing that I can depend on when need arises. I want to use my savings to buy animals maybe goats which will multiply and I cans ell to get a dairy cow whose milk I can sell and get income. I also want to get a drivers license and so I hope to use the savings to also pursue this by paying for driving school."
