"Equipped with a passion for sewing, I pursued formal training at a tailoring school, primarily focusing on crafting garments for women. While my expertise in sewing for men is limited, I have excelled in creating beautiful clothes for ladies. Previously operating my business from home, I realized the potential of having a dedicated shop. With a physical storefront, I can enhance visibility and accessibility, making it easier for customers to find and engage with my services. Transitioning to a shop not only expands my customer base but also allows me to showcase my skills and diversify my offerings, catering to the needs of both men and women seeking top-notch tailored clothing. My goal is to have my own shop where I can easily showcase my skills and will only attain my goal by proper saving and having a great plan with the monthly transfers that I normally receive."

Albert's family

Albert received a $376 second payment.
"Receiving the second transfer was a miracle for me. By that time, my son had been involved in an accident and I was stranded on where to start with his medical expenses since I am a casual laborer. Thereafter, I spent $200 on his medication and I am happy to see him up again on his feet. I also opted to buy a bicycle for $70 for my transport to and from the construction sites because I work in the house construction industry as a casual laborer. I also renovated the roof of my house because some of the iron sheets were very old and leaking. I bought 10 pieces of iron sheets for $110 and also did some plastering to some of the mud-wall areas that had been destroyed by rainfall. Currently, I am happy that I stay in a decent house free from leakages unlike before."

Kadzo received a $390 second payment.
"After receiving the second transfer, I decided to buy some iron sheets, building poles, and rafters. I bought these materials to build a house for my son, who had been seeking refuge from his young brother yet he has a family after his house collapsed. I cannot account for how much the house cost due to illiteracy but what gives me peace of mind is that he is very happy and settled with his wife in the new house. After that, I paid $40 in school fees for my two primary school grandchildren who had been sent back home for fees. Thereafter, I used the remaining amount to buy some food for the family."

Kashutu received a $390 second payment.
"Since I had already bought some building materials such as blocks using the first transfer, the next step was to purchase the remaining materials and construct the house. Upon getting the second transfer, I used $370 to purchase all the remaining materials inclusive of the contractor's labor charge. Currently, a two-room block house shines my home. I am grateful and happy for GiveDirectly for enabling me to construct a nice permanent house. I cannot tell how long it would have taken me to build such a house considering that I am a casual laborer working from hand to mouth. After that, I paid $170 in school fees for my two secondary school children who were about to be sent out of school for fees. As of now, they are happily settled in school conducting their studies."

"From the first transfer, I started constructing a three-room mud-walled house because the one I had was very small and congested. Since I used the transfer for other things as well, I was unable to complete the construction. When I got the second transfer, I prioritized completing the house. I bought roofing timbers, building poles, and rafters. Due to illiteracy, I cannot account for how much each item cost but I am grateful that I managed to complete the house and I am now living in a spacious house unlike before. I also paid some school fees for my two nephews who I take care of after abandoned by their parents. I am happy to see them back to school courtesy of GiveDirectly after staying out of school for a while due to school."
