As I mother I feel bad seeing my young children taking two or more days without food. Sometimes they miss school due to hunger. Food shortage is the challenge I am currently facing in life."

"Lack of reliable income is the challenge I am currently facing. My husband is a casual work at Kilifi earning approximately $80 per month and I am just a house wife with no income. My husband income caters for food and school fees and it is not enough. My two children are schooling at Dida primary and they have a collective balance of $35. received a $319 second payment.
"My objective is to increase the amount of money I make from the tailoring business I am now operating. I believe that once I get there, I'll be able to achieve a lot. I will also have enough money saved by the time my children enrol in higher education to pay for their schooling. Since I have a plan to grow the business over the next two months, I'm optimistic that this is going to happen promptly."

"GiveDirectly made an outstanding job of improving our lives in my entire region. Since we all have various needs in our homes, I thought it was a good idea to give us the choice to choose what works best for us. The village's peace and cohesion have even improved as a result of this. As they continue to stay in different villages, I haven't been able to identify any specific areas where they as an organization fell short and should be improved."

Fiath
received a $319 third payment.
"I spent $280 on purchasing a 2000-liter water storage tank. We frequently have water scarcity during the dry season, therefore the tank will collect and store water during the rainy season which will later be used during dry season. By having the tank, we can avoid the high costs of purchasing water during times of scarcity.
Additionally, I used $27 to expand the road to my home, as it was too narrow and posed difficulties for vehicles to pass through. Improving the accessibility and convenience of our road was important for our daily transportation needs.
Given the unreliable nature of my income, which is heavily dependent on farming activities as it is susceptible to weather changes, I used the remaining funds from the transfer to buy food for my family of five. I am optimistic that the food will last us for a month."

"I can vividly remember the moment it happened. It was precisely 3:10 PM, and I was at home, enjoying a moment of relaxation while keeping an eye on my goats. Suddenly, my phone buzzed, indicating a new Mpesa notification message. To my delight, I discovered that GiveDirectly had sent me some money. The news instantly uplifted my spirits, filling me with joy. Bursting with excitement, I quickly shared the wonderful surprise with my wife, who shared in my happiness. With a newfound enthusiasm, I eagerly started devising plans on how best to make use of the funds."
