"I am eagerly anticipating the monies I will receive this year because I plan to completely renovate my home so that I may add more rooms. Currently, my husband and I are the only ones living in our home, but we plan to expand our family in the future, so this will be useful in the long run. Additionally, I hoped to create a business where I could own a kiosk before the year is out by using the money I was given. I want to start a business so I can assist my husband with household expenses because he struggles to pay them."

"I'll start setting aside some cash each month for my son's tuition moving ahead. My son Baraka is currently in his last year of primary school and will move on to secondary school the following year. It will be better if I start saving for him now because his school tuition expenses for the following year will be more expensive. I have been caring for our five children since my spouse passed away more than five years ago. It has not been simple because my income from the charcoal enterprise is insufficient to meet their demands. Due to my inability to pay his tuition, our first child left elementary school, but fortunately, our second child was sponsored by a group that covers all of his educational costs. I will be able to enroll Baraka in secondary school once I start saving early. Two more are still in lower primary school."

"I am a livestock keeper, and I do not have any additional source of income except GiveDirectly's transfer. When I began receiving my monthly support, my primary goal is always to channel all my transfers toward school fees. I have three school-going children, my daughter Lucy and two sons, Silas and Sikubali. For the coming year, I shall prioritize their education. I am glad that they progress well with their studies. They like their studies and are positive in life. Without the transfer, the situation would have been out of hand, and I think they would have dropped out of school."

"Give Directly is doing a great job by making enrollment so easy for us, the only requirement being an ID and 18years of age and above, it made it easy for us to get the transfers."

"In my opinion, what GiveDirectly does well in this program is that we receive the transfers in lumpsum amounts. This helps in planning as one is in a position to do something huge as compared to when the transfers are given in small instalments. Another thing that GiveDirectly does well is that the unlearned recipients are taught how to use mpesa. This has reduced the number of theft cases in the community as most of us managed to change our pins to a more secure code. What needs to be done differently is enrolling all the individuals in the household to avoid household conflict. During enrollment, those individuals who did not have responsibilities by then were left out of the program yet these are the same people who steal from their old and vulnerable parents. Another thing that needs to be done differently is enrolling all the communities in a specific village for uniformity purposes and this will prevent too many complaints coming from the communities that are left out during the registration to the programs."

"It has long since been my life long plan to buy and build rental houses. I am hoping to secure funds in one way or another to obtain a 2 or 3 acre tract of land that I can then develop to allow me to be self sufficient financially."

"I am a father of three sons who are in Primary school. They are in class three, five and seven. Currently I do not have a stable job since I was retrenched due to the Pandemic that hit our country recently. Paying school fees has been the greatest challenge in my family. I used the transfers to clear my sons fee balances of kshs 20,000. I used a balance of kshs 30,000 to buy two cows, this will later assist me in farming while the female one will produce milk for consumption and sale. When milk will be in excess, I will sell to take care of the family needs like food and clothing as well as paying school fees for the sons."
