"With the first transfer, I successfully completed building a new house for my family of three and had to keep buying household goods that were missing in the old house. I spent $100 after receiving the second transfer to buy a bed, a mattress, and other bedding that we are currently using. Previously, I had been sleeping on the floor with tattered and uncomfortable bedding. Buying new ones was a relief because I can now sleep soundly every night. I also spent $160 on four goats that I intend to breed and sell the offspring to purchase a dairy cow. I am hoping for a future where I don't have to buy milk and instead produce enough to sell. In addition, I spent a portion of the remaining funds on food for my family and saved the remainder for use in paying other household bills and replenishing food when our current purchases were depleted."

"I had previously relied on casual labor and livestock farming, which had never been enough to support my family of seven. Because of the inconsistent availability of casual labor, I would like to expand my livestock farming in the coming year by adding at least two dairy cows to the two that I currently have on my farm. This will increase milk production, which I will sell to cover other household expenses. Purchasing milk for a large family is costly. I have been saving money from the casual labor I am doing now, and I am hoping to buy at least one cow in the next five months."

"My ambition is for my children to excel in their studies. This is the only way they can have a bright future. I intend to save money from the dairy project I started as well as from selling farm produce. I am eternally grateful for the financial assistance that enabled us to achieve financial independence."

"The goal I am now working toward is to purchase bulls for plow work. These bulls will be used for both professional and domestic plows. Since the majority of people in our area live off of agriculture, I will be able to do well during the rainy seasons. To do this, I want to sell at least two of my cows so that I may purchase the plowing bulls and the necessary plowing equipment."

"Upon receiving the second transfer, I opted to add the number of goats I had by two. Currently, I have seven goats which serve as an investment. The goats cost $70. I also opted to buy a cow for milk production both for family use and for sale. The cow cost me $200. After that, I paid $100 school fees for my secondary school child and $30 for my elementary school child. I did this to ensure that they settle in school for studies without being disturbed. Since I rely on my firstborn son who is a casual laborer, I opted to keep the remaining amount for family use. This relieved my son from straining so much to cater to the family."

"After constructive thinking, I saved $300 from the first transfer purposely for my son who was about to join the university. When I received the second transfer, I combined it with the amount I save and take my son to the university. The required fee for a whole year was $800 and I am glad because, through the help of GiveDirectly, I was able to pay the whole amount on the reporting day. I am happy that he is settled comfortably in the university. After doing so, I felt relieved and I had peace of mind."

"GiveDirectly's second transfer came as a savior in my household. My two secondary school children plus the one in an elementary school were one week old at home from the day they were sent out of school for fees. This did not give me peace of mind. Upon getting the second transfer, I paid $30 for the elementary school child and $330 for the two secondary school children because they had some arrears from the previous term. Having settled this, I was relieved to buy myself a bed and a mattress for $120. I did this because I used to sleep on the floor due to poverty. Since getting food was also a hurdle on my side, I used the remaining amount in buying some food for my family."
