"My main goal is to own a better house in the next one year. My current house in a dilapidated state and getting money to renovate or build a better one had been quite a challenge. My plans are to save the little amount of money monthly and after a certain period, I would have enough money to help me build a better house."

"My future goal is to educate my children to a level that they would want to. I would want to see them continue with their education and in the future get better jobs that could help sustain them. To achieve this, I would ensure that I spent most of the transfers on paying their school fees and on any other items required at school for their smooth learning."

"I had always wanted to have livestock i.e cows that will be of help during farming, but due to the lack if finances, I have never been able to. My plan was to save part of my monthly transfers so that one day I would have the required amount to purchase the cows. With the animals in place, I would also be hiring them out at a certain amount to those who might require the services."

"I had wanted to start a shop business before GD came in. I had saved up around $30 which I used to start the business but the shop was very low on stock, when GD came in I added to this stock and started bringing in things like flour, oil, rice and added the vegetables. I have been stocking up monthly as I receive transfers depending on what state the shop is in. So this year my hope is to expand the shop to a point we have all the essentials more than what we have in our stocks now. I want to marry and so I want to be in a good financial state when I do so. I also want to buy some animals. I mentioned that I want to marry, so this animals will reproduce and over time my flock will grow and I can be able to sell the animals to pay my children's school fees when I get them."

"I am a casual worker and I do not make much from casual work. I can make $5 a day and spend the rest of the week without work and that makes it difficult to pay school fees for my children. I have seven children in school who depend on me and my husband who does a small business of selling groundnuts in the city to take care of their education. My plan this year is to use this transfers to ensure my children get an education. I also want to buy a number of chicken that I can sell and afford to buy goats. I also want to ensure my family is well fed this year which I hope to achieve by this transfers."

"I live by the path of water as it comes downhill which means that when its raining water passes through my house and has been washing it away slowly over the years. Now my house is a shell, it is almost crumbling, it is also small hence is not sufficient for my family. I want t build my family a house. I want to by building materials over the year using this money. I will buy some more Iron sheets and poles until they are sufficient to build a house. I also want to venture into livestock farming. This is a very profitable business that can help me take care of my family as currently my income is not sufficient to do so."

Hadija
received a $27 sixth payment.
"I am jobless, I used to be a trader, I used up my whole stock and ate up into my business earnings due to family needs that I had to stop doing the business. I have been depending on my husband for cash and he is a construction worker who does not always secure employment and on days that he does he makes a maximum of $7. I want to be able to contribute to the family finances and that's why I am going to tailoring school to learn how to make clothes. I had started but due to an overwhelming amount of needs I decided to stop as my kid's schooling was much important. Once I am done training I will buy a sewing machine that I will use to make clothes and make money. If Givedirectly continues sending finances, I will rebuild my house. My house was blown away by a strong wind which forced us to move to our kitchen. I want to be able to afford to buy raw materials for construction so I can start up on it."
