Jackline
received a $418 initial payment.
"After receiving the first transfer, I made my daughter's education a priority by paying $120 for her school fees and providing her with all the required books and stationery as she started her secondary school studies. This investment in her education has the potential to improve her future prospects significantly. Furthermore, I spent $420 on purchasing two heifers, which will increase milk production in the future and potentially generate income for my family. I appreciate the support from GiveDirectly and look forward to utilizing the subsequent transfers to continue improving our situation."

Once I succeed in this, I also hope to begin a livestock-selling business, it is quite rewarding during festive seasons."

Mercy
received a $418 initial payment.
"The comfort of our new spacious house has been the biggest difference in my daily life since I began receiving payments from GiveDirectly. The old kitchen was always a source for worry because it couldn't withstand the harsh weather conditions, and there was never enough space for all of us. Our new home, however, has changed everything. We now have a sense of security because we do not have to worry about the roof leaking or the walls collapsing. We can finally sleep soundly knowing that we are safe. Furthermore, the new house has raised our status in the society, and we are now proud to host visitors."

"Since I am a single mother and I do not have a job to rely on except for burning charcoal, I am always worried about how to raise school fees for my children. With the monthly transfers, I hope to focus on making monthly fee payments to avoid the accumulation of arrears. It will keep my children in school so that they do not miss much from the class. I hope to accomplish paying their fees by the end of the year, hence they will have ample time in school to catch up with their classmates."

Riziki
received a $26 thirteenth payment.
"My goal is to start a business that offers sales of vegetables because I lack a consistent source of income. That will make it much easier for me to raise more money to support my family. As a result, I will have no difficulty raising the cash I need to buy food and cover my children's education costs. I will achieve financial freedom once my business starts to do well and I start to see consistent income flow. Consequently, I will stop taking small debts from the neighborhood because doing so has always deprived me of my peace."

Jumwa
received a $26 thirteenth payment.
"My main goal is to start a livestock-rearing project. Owing to the fact that I currently do not have an income-generating activity, and getting money to feed and educate my children had been quite a challenge. I would want to venture into the project of rearing chicken and goats on large scale. I, therefore plan to save $20 of my monthly transfers and after two months, I buy at least two goats and a few chicks to keep the project going. I believe that the project would have a long-term impact on my family because I would still have it even if the transfers come to a halt."

"My main goal is to expand the current poultry project that I have. I want to construct a nursery and buy 15 layers to add to the project so that I would be supplying eggs within the area to to boost the income from the sales of the other chicken. To achieve this, I plan to save part of my monthly transfers and I would be setting aside around $15 every month to help me start the side project and I believe that the income from the entire business would be of great help in terms of educating my children and I would never be stressed even if the project comes to an end since I would be having a source of income."

"My goal is to start a livestock-rearing project. I plan to buy goats with part of the transfers that I would be receiving where every month. Later, I would sell part of them and buy cows that would be helping me out during cultivation because currently, I struggle a lot cultivating a two-acre piece of land without using any simpler method something that had been so tiring. I also want to improve my house, currently, I live in a mud house, but my wish had always been to have a permanent house, but due to the financial challenges and the inability to afford a permanent house, I would want to change it to a semi-permanent house. Therefore, I also plan to save part of my transfers so that by the beginning of next year, I would have some amount to start off the construction."
