What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently the only challenge we are facing we are facing in our household is lack of food. From our previous harvest, in April this year, we only got 2 bags of maize for food from our 1 acre farm land. This lasted until October and we have had to depend on casual labour from Press company for our survival since then. This hasn't been easy with our old age and deteriorating health.
What is the happiest part of your day?
On 29 November 2022 we received $25 from Evac, an organization that deals in social cash transfers here in our community. This brought us joy for we managed to buy maize flour for food with that money.
What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
As a household we plan on building a new house first. We intend on building a 2 roomed house with iron sheets for the roof. We have been wanting to do this forever but have failed to attain that due to lack of finances. So we believe this opportunity would help us to finally realize that dream of living in a better house. With the current price of items we are unable to put a price tag on the house project. However, if some money will be left after finishing the house project, we plan on buying 2 goats and 4 ducks to rear here at home for our sustainance after the program phases out. We wouldn't waste time to start implementing these household plans, having received the money, for fear of the rise in cost of commodities.
