"I appreciate the support that I have been receiving from GiveDirectly because if it wasn't for the money, my grandchildren wouldn't be in school. Their father passed away, and they are now under my care. At my old age, I cannot work anymore, and I rely heavily on transfers to pay school fees. My objective is to ensure that they achieve their educational goals by paying their school fees on time. I believe that before the program period elapses, they will have almost completed their studies and at the moment, I'm at peace since I have some funds to depend on for their studies."

"If it were not for the transfers, then I am not sure how my life could be by now. I am glad that the transfers have touched the lives of my family greatly, for we have acquired assets that we never thought could be within our reach now. This is the case for other community members, and I commend GiveDirectly for the amazing impact it has had on the people on the ground. I am grateful for the opportunity I have had with the organization, for it has been a life-changing one."

"GiveDirectly has touched the lives of more people in the community by providing unconditional cash transfers that are not loans. If you are to visit the village today, then you will see a lot of change ranging from housing to education to health. Many people utilized the transfers to acquire assets that have boosted their financial status, and now their lives have been uplifted."

"It is always said that no man can live on bread alone, and so, as the saying goes, I have to struggle to make ends meet and thus feed my family of 6. At the moment, I do casual jobs such as weeding to earn $1.5 per day. However, for me to get such jobs, I travel up to 5 kilometers daily. The income I earn, even though it is insufficient, all pays for food for the household, and I have no surplus. I am glad the transfers came in handy, for they boosted me a long way as I used $2000 to purchase a heifer that I hope will produce milk for the household once it lactates. At the moment, I have one, but it runs dry in some seasons; therefore, having two will give room for alternating. I also spent $2000 on paying school fees for the whole year for my son in grade 10. Last but not least, I used the rest of the transfers on food for the household, and now I can save the income I earn from casual jobs for future use."

"I intend to allocate a significant portion of my monthly stipend towards purchasing medicine that has effectively alleviated my pain. Additionally, I bear the responsibility of financially supporting my two children's educational expenses, specifically their school fees. The monthly stipends present a valuable opportunity to promptly settle their fees, enabling uninterrupted learning and ensuring their success in exams with flying colors."

"Due to my deteriorating health, I have faced immense difficulties in meeting my basic needs. However, my children, who work as casual laborers, have come to my aid numerous times. With the funds I receive from transfers, I intend to invest in expanding my livestock. My optimism stems from the belief that as the herds multiply, I will be able to generate more wealth. Eventually, I can sell some of the livestock and fulfill my needs adequately."

"Imagine being a single mother of 1 at the age of 25 years! This has been the toughest moment for me because I have the role of raising my son single-handedly. Considering my casual jobs which are not consistent and their income is usually low ($1.5) per day, it has been so difficult for me. At home, I occupied a house which collapsed part of its walls and I have not managed to repair it. This has posed me with the risk of night colds and other health problems. Living in this house has devoured my peace of mind since I do not have any privacy. Any passers-by can see us when we are asleep. What a shame! I, therefore, consider the lack of a stable source of income as my biggest challenge."

"Lack of house is the challenge I am currently facing. I have a family of ten members and we all live in a one room house with a grass roof. It leaks during rain season and lacks privacy."
