Ghasia
received a $24 twenty-sixth payment.
"Thanks to the Givedirectly transfers I began a grocery business which had greatly changed the direction of my life. I never used to have a good source of income until I got this business. My husband is a motorcycle rider who in a week makes about $10. I also make an almost similar amount of $10 from my grocery business, we usually pull together our finances to fill in for school fees as the transfers on their own cannot cover everything. My goal is to use the transfers to expand this business I ma running to increase income as I also use it to pay the school fees for the children."

Rukia
received a $24 twenty-second payment.
"I have wanted to be a tailor for so long. I knew with the burden of responsibility on my parents it was a far fetched dream until Receiving transfers revived that dream. I would want to have my own tailoring shop where I make clothes for clients and earn an income. I know that for me the passion I have for the trade I will be able to make people beautiful clothes that will make them happy. I want to save for the sewing machine as well as rent for the intended shop and this is the goal I am planning to work on this year."

Priscillar
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"The transfers have been instrumental in funding my children's education, alleviating the significant challenges I once faced in ensuring their continuous schooling. Previously, I grappled with the recurring issue of school fee arrears, which often resulted in my children being sent home, disrupting their education. However, since receiving the transfers, this situation has vastly improved, and my children no longer face the threat of expulsion due to unpaid fees. Looking ahead, I intend to allocate a substantial portion of my transfers towards covering my children's school fees in the upcoming months. I am truly grateful for the financial empowerment these transfers have provided."

Neema
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"I am eager to allocate a significant portion of my upcoming transfers towards investing in livestock. With their ability to multiply relatively quickly, these animals will serve as a fruitful long-term investment, amplifying my initial capital. My intention is to utilize the proceeds from selling the livestock down the line to fund my children's education. The assistance provided by the transfers has been instrumental in ensuring my children's continued enrollment in school, eliminating the challenges we faced in the past when they were often sent back home due to financial constraints. This progress brings me immense joy and gratitude."

Edwin
received a $309 third payment.
"Now that I have my driving license after completing driving school, I am hopeful that I will secure a job to support my family. With a steady income, I'll be able to meet our basic needs and support my children through their education. Farming has proven to be unsustainable due to the challenges we face with irrigation and unpredictable weather conditions. Therefore, I see securing a job as a more reliable way to provide for my family's future."

Brendah
received a $309 third payment.
"Life was really tough before we received assistance from GiveDirectly. My husband and I depended on casual jobs that paid just $2 a day to support our family of seven, including our five daughters. With the help I got, I invested in a 5,000-litre water tank for $330, which was crucial due to the severe water shortages we face. Normally, in the dry season, the river dries up, and I have to walk 2 kilometers to a borehole, the community's main water source. I'd go early in the morning, between 4 and 5 am, to fetch water and avoid the long queues. The cost of hiring a motorbike to transport the water was $2, way beyond our means. Now, I plan to buy 10,000 liters of water for $50 in bulk and share it with a neighbor, cutting the cost to $25 each, which is a big saving for us. Further, I used $50 to add more food items to my small hotel business, which I started with my first transfer from GiveDirectly. At my hotel, I sell food and fresh milk, earning about $15 a day. As I run the hotel, my husband looks after our tomato farm, which we started with my second transfer. To ensure we have enough food, I bought a 90kg bag of maize for $42. With the remaining money, I bought school uniforms for three of my children in primary school for $15 and paid $13 for school fees to the teachers under the Board of Management. This support has truly transformed our lives, making a positive impact and allowing us to afford a living."
