Zawadi
received a $27 thirty-third payment.
"n the coming year and beyond, my primary goal is to build a house for my family of seven to gain privacy and independence from living with my mother-in-law, a situation that has been uncomfortable for us. To achieve this, I plan to set aside $2 from each transfer and supplement this with my husband's income until we save $500, the amount needed to construct our home. This step will greatly improve our living conditions and provide the privacy we need."

Rachael
received a $27 twenty-eighth payment.
"As the sole provider for my family of nine, with my husband unable to work due to illness, my primary goal for the coming year and beyond is to ensure that all my children complete their education. To achieve this, I will continue setting aside part of my transfers to cover their school fees. Additionally, I plan to expand my livestock project by purchasing more goats and eventually selling some to support school expenses. While I initially aimed to buy a cow, I have adjusted this goal due to my husband's health situation, focusing instead on strengthening my goat-rearing venture to secure a stable income for my family's future."

Kadzo
received a $27 twenty-eighth payment.
"In the upcoming year and beyond, I plan to invest in a livestock rearing project, focusing mainly on goat rearing, which will provide me the opportunity to further invest in this area. This initiative will help me support my younger sister, who is still in school. At present, I own three goats, and my aim is to increase their numbers. Given that goats are quite expensive, costing around $150 each, I recognize that I need to work diligently to reach this goal. I have joined a merry-go-round group where I save $20 each month to help fund the purchase of my dream cow. Additionally, once my goat project expands sufficiently, I intend to sell some goats to generate income and combine that with my savings to enable me to buy my dream cow. I am passionate about cow rearing because it offers numerous benefits, starting with milk that can be sold for income. Furthermore, cattle provide farm fertilizer and can yield a good profit when sold. Therefore, I am optimistic about achieving this goal."

"Food has become expensive because of inflation and this makes life difficult. As days go, it becomes more difficult to be able to feed my family of six because of a constant income and more priced food items. If i had another source of income everything would have been easier to achieve."

Sidi
received a $27 twenty-eighth payment.
"I have been renovating and repairing my house in order to make it more durable. The transfers I have received have been incredibly helpful in this process. Although the house is not yet complete, I remain hopeful that I will be able to finish the renovations soon. One of my main goals is to put in a proper floor, so we will no longer have to endure the dust from the earth floor. To complete the renovation, I plan to use my future transfers to buy all the necessary building materials. Once the house is finished, I will be very happy, knowing that my home will be secure, and I will no longer have to worry about housing, even after this program comes to an end. In addition to improving my home, I want to lift myself and my family out of the poverty we are currently in. To do this, I intend to save a portion of my future transfers and use the saved money to start a business. I would love to open a business selling vegetables, dried fish, soap, and other goods. I am hopeful that with hard work and determination, these plans will come to fruition. I am truly grateful for the transfers we receive from GiveDirectly, as they have given me the opportunity to work towards a better future for my family."

Sadaka
received a $27 thirty-second payment.
"Earlier, I had shared that I wanted to buy a bed and mattress. I was able to purchase the bed, but due some issues that my son, who is our breadwinner faced with his business, I had to put my plans on hold and prioritize supporting him so that he could get back on his feet. Now that he is back on his feet, my goal for this year is to save a portion of my future transfers to finally buy a mattress, so I can have a comfortable place to sleep. In addition to this, I bought a phone on credit and have been making monthly repayments. For the next few months, I plan to continue repaying the debt using part of my transfers. Once I buy the mattress and fully pay off the phone, I will feel a sense of relief and can focus on my future. Looking ahead, I intend to gradually buy goats and chicken using my transfers. My hope is that these animals will multiply over time, providing me with a sustainable source of income and something to rely on in the future. I am incredibly grateful for the transfers, as they have made all of this possible and have given me hope for a better tomorrow."

"With old age, it is difficult to rely on hard jobs to make a living. I currently depend mostly on selling livestock and my children for upkeep. I feel bad because I am burdening my children with my responsibilities. If I had a stable source of income my life would have been better."

"Lack of a stable source of income limits our ability to meet our basic needs comfortably. My husband and I depend on casual jobs to earn a living. We have four children at secondary school and it is hard to pay their school fees meaning they spend most of their school time at home due to arrears"

Renos
received a $347 second payment.
"GiveDirectly does a great job of being transparent. During the community meeting, everything about the organization was explained in detail, which helped us understand how it works and what to expect. The officers who handled the enrollment process were respectful and created a good rapport with us, making it easy to express ourselves freely without any fear. I believe that GiveDirectly operates very well, and their approach is effective in many ways. However, I would suggest rewarding those who spent their money wisely, as recognition could encourage others to use the funds responsibly, but overall, I encourage them to continue with the same approach."

Maxon
received a $347 second payment.
"When I received my second transfer, I knew exactly how I wanted to use it. My house was small, just a single room with a sloped roof, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to accommodate my family of five. I decided to invest part of the money into expanding our home and improving its condition. I used $427 to purchase iron sheets and other materials, changing the roof design to a more modern one. Additionally, as a businessman, I saw an opportunity to grow my goat trading business, so I added $20 to it, knowing that it would help increase my income. The remaining $3 was used to buy sugar, as we had run out and could not afford it at the time. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for this support."
