"I used my most recent transfer to buy food..With the rise in price of food commodities in my country, I spent about $80 on buying food for my family. Then, I spent about $70 in procuring agricultural materials such as fertiliser and seeds..I did so because I am planning on growing maize, soya beans and other crops on a a large scale..So when the fertility of the soil is improved, I feel I will be able to realize high yields. Lastly, I spent some of the money in buying clothes and beddings for the whole family as we did not have enough in the house."

"The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that currently, I am able to afford buying different relish for my children. I am capable of eating different food groups such as proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins compared to the past where I could only manage to eat one specific food group."

"The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that I have enough food in my household as compared to the past..My children are able to eat three times a day and food is usually high in nutrients as recommended by medical personnel. Also, this rainy season I will be able to grow enough crops since I have fertilizer..In the past, I used to grow crops on a small piece of land as I could not afford to purchase fertilizer..All this has changed and I am grateful."

"In the next one year and beyond, we are planning to purchase more land added onto that which we currently own. With this then we will be able to even keep more cattle , an investment that will make our lives and that of our child quite easy and affordable. I am currently part of a merry go round contribution where I am targeting to raise up to $500 to that is enough to buy an eighth of an acre.."

"I spent $245 of the transfer to boost my crop and livestock farming by purchasing one ox and 3 goats. I intend to use the oxen to assist me in preparing the farm in time. This will ensure that I can plant crops on the onset of rains resulting in high food production for the family's consumption. The goats are a future investment for the kid's education that I will be able to sell them to pay for their tuition fees. In addition, I used $120 to purchase sufficient food for the family of 5. This is because the charcoal vending job that I was doing could not provide for the family. No the other hand, it was laborious affecting me health-wise always complaining about chest pains. Furthermore, I used $50 to start a small cafe, an alternative source of income for myself which is helping me in feeding the family something I am grateful for."

"In my opinion GiveDirectly does very well by giving full information and knowhow on how people can spend the cash that they give. Giving the money without conditions is also a gamechanger that sees everyone spend the money on various ways in which they are most comfortable with. This has given everyone an opportunity to spend the money in the most convenient way."

"Providing our children with a quality education has always been my heart's desire. I spent $150 of the recent transfer to clear their fee arrears for them since they had a huge fee balance that was forcing their education frequently be interrupted. Additionally, I used a bigger portion of the remaining amount to complete the construction of a two-roomed irony roofed house for the family. This was because we were residing in an old structure that was about to collapse. I was always worried that it may fall when there are strong winds something that was giving me sleepless nights. Lastly, I bought proper bedding for $110, earlier, I was sleeping on the floor with rugs that were uncomfortable. Currently, I am happy that we are enjoying the nights on modern and comfortable bedding."

"My new goal is to buy more livestock. Currently, with the rains and the support received from GiveDirectly, I intend to buy goats with little savings from our business. In the future, this will enable our business to be independent to have our slaughterhouse and distributors of meat in the area."

"GiveDirectly is doing well by providing support through cash transfers, which is a major impact to eradicate poverty. Through cash transfers, most of the villagers have built their houses and improved their lifestyles. Most of the children that had dropped from school because of financial constraints have gone back to school. The funds may have not solved all our problems, but have played a major role in solving part of them. I would like GiveDirectly to consider having funding programs for Education and water. Those are some of the main problems that have caused our village to be underdeveloped."

"The transfers have brought a big difference in my life and the village as well; I have been living in debt and have been frustrated to know that both of us can get a job, but verification of our academic documents is holding us back. The funds have changed our situation because my husband got his certificate, and they have contracted him in several electrical jobs. I am motivated to work towards clearing my balance and hopeful that I will get my transcripts soon. Above all, they completely renovated my house from the floor to the walls, which is one of the major achievements in the shortest time. The whole village is transformed. People have built new homes, bought water tanks, taken their children to school, and bought livestock. GiveDirectly is one organization that will be remembered for its good work and development in our area."
